Why We Still Talk About SPF in November

· 3 min read

Journal collage1600 × 1600 — coming soon

Every autumn the SPF goes back in the drawer. We understand: the days are short and grey. But the UV that causes most visible ageing is there all year, through clouds and through windows.

UVA doesn’t take winter off

UVB, the burning kind, drops in winter. UVA, which breaks down collagen and deepens pigmentation, stays remarkably steady. It is also the reason dark spots from summer refuse to fade.

Zinc-based SPF 30 or higher, every morning.

How to make it stick

  • Use a formula you like the feel of. That’s the whole secret.
  • Two finger-lengths for face and neck.
  • Keep it next to your toothbrush, not your sunglasses.
The best SPF is the one you’ll wear on a Tuesday in November.
